State College, PA. – While push-up bras, sexy dolls, and hip hop dance lessons seem to be the normal currency for ten-year-old girls, best-selling author Dannah Gresh continues to sound an alarm for moms to avoid such sexualization. Gresh’s fun, age-appropriate Secret Keeper Girl mom/daughter connecting resources moved to the stage several years ago with over 150,000 around the country attending. An all-new event, the Secret Keeper Girl Crazy Hair Tour, refuels moms with conviction to train their daughters to embrace modesty, purity & true beauty and introduces their daughters to positive role models in 1 Girl Nation (1GN), a new pop group focused on lyrics that encourage tweens to live for Jesus while they’re young!
The Crazy Hair Tour — Secret Keeper Girl’s fourth themed tour — is a Bible-based relationship-building experience for moms and their tween daughters (typically ages 8-12). The two and a half hour event features a fun fashion show that demonstrates modesty, incredible balloon sculptures, bouncing beach ball competitions, mother/daughter conversation time & colorful confetti cannons and comes with a crazy proposal to get crazy.
“It’s normal for a girl to be boy-crazy and be obsessed with fashion and beauty, but those crowd-pleasing choices have risks, so let’s get crazy! The Secret Keeper Girl Crazy Hair Tour helps moms cultivate God-crazy Daughters, who embrace inner beauty, biblical modesty, and vibrant purity,” reads a poster for the new event.
Gresh is happy to bring 1 Girl Nation (1GN), an all-female pop quintet targeting tween girls, on tour with Secret Keeper Girl. 1GN is an exciting blend of upbeat, relevant dance pop music, with a Christ-centered message. The group will perform an opening concert and lead worship during each event. Dannah explains that this is an important move for the tour because: “One of the most common questions moms post on our Facebook page is: I’m looking for musical artists who will be good role models for my daughter. Who do you recommend?” Gresh says the answer is 1 Girl Nation. The group — comprised of Carmen, Kayli, Kelsey, Lauryn Taylor, and Lindsey — has their debut album releasing August 20th through Reunion Records/Provident Label Group. You can follow the group through their website: www.1girlnation.com.
The tour will appear in approximately 80 cities during its first year, with over forty of them in the Fall 2013 season including a debut in Secret Keeper Girl’s hometown of State College, PA. Other cities include Fort Wayne, Chicago, Grand Rapids, Omaha and Des Moines. An inner-city outreach event in cooperation with Brooklyn Tabernacle’s BT Kids is scheduled for January 2014 to kick off the Spring 2014 tour. A complete list of tour dates can be found online at www.secretkeepergirl.com.
Dannah Gresh has sold nearly a million and a half copies of her books – including Six Ways To Keep The “Little” In Your Girl and Six Ways To Keep The “Good” In Your Boy. As the new Secret Keeper Girl “Crazy Hair” Tour debuts, she is releasing three new titles. In the popular Secret Keeper Girl 8 Great Dates series, Dannah is re-releasing Talking To Your Daughter About Best Friends and Mean Girls which gives moms eight creative bonding dates on friendship to do with her girl, and A Girl’s Guide To Best Friends & Mean Girls which she co-wrote with beloved Secret Keeper Girl lead teacher Suzy Weibel. Gresh and Weibel also joined forces to write a One Year Devos for Teen Girls.
